I started in the Insurance industry in 1993 with an insurance company. I then moved to an insurance brokerage in 1994, and have been with Mones & Associates since. I have done every job possible in the office starting at reception, doing claims, personal lines, commercial lines and obtaining my insurance license. I have always been fascinated with computer systems and wanted to improve and find shortcuts to make workflow easier and more efficient. I have since become the IT Systems Administrator for our office in Edmonton and 8 of our branch offices. I am looking forward to the challenges that lay ahead.

Faye Thowsen - Private Client Services (Encon), Edmonton (faye.a.thowsen@encon.ca)

Faye is Assistant Vice President and Branch Manager of the Edmonton office for Private Client Services (PCS). Joining PCS in 1996, Faye is responsible for the overall management of the Edmonton office and is the direct report for the PCS offices of Calgary and Vancouver. Faye is an Associate of the Insurance Institute of Canada and has completed her Best Practices Certification. Prior Insurance experience encompassed 16 years working for General Insurers in underwriting, marketing and Management, bringing both practical and theoretical knowledge to the Broker network.

Julie has been in the Insurance industry since 1987 and has worked her way through the ranks from basic file clerk to Processing/IT Manager and now Personal Lines Insurance Broker. She has worked with The Agency Manager program since 1995. She was fortunate enough to attend the 2000 TENcon Conference that was held in Toronto, Canada. She has attended AUGAS Seminars in the past and firmly believes that user groups hold a tremendous amount of value for their participants and looks forward to helping our members and generating new members. Julie looks forward to working with the board and with you, the users of Alberta.

Kathie Blackman - C.J. Campbell, Calgary (kblackman@cjcampbell.ca)

Kathie started her insurance career in Toronto, Ontario when she went to work as a secretary for the Canadian Federation of Insurance Agents' & Brokers' Associations, now known as the Insurance Brokers' Association of Canada. She has always worked on the broker side of the business, and is presently the General Manager at C. J. Campbell Insurance in Calgary. Kathie finds her work challenging and exciting, with no two days being alike. Her interest in IT and AUGAS grows out of her attempts to keep up with her knowledgeable staff. She feels it is of utmost importance that information be shared among brokers, and with Applied Systems.
